Insomnia
It’s early Sunday morning, or should I call it late Saturday night? That’s the first question that troubles me. Are my days changing? Why are there a sunset and a sunrise? Shouldn’t I be rising and setting just like the sun? Why do I set when the sun rises? Why am I so different? Can I not just be like everyone else? Why can’t I close my eyes and just go to sleep whenever my body needs it? Am I just afraid that I may never get up?It’s always past three in the morning when I go to bed, never earlier, but it’s usually close to six by the time I’m actually sleeping. I work different time zones and with about sixty different countries, so I need to be up nearly round the clock. I love the way I function this way, apologizing to the Americans for my accent and asking them to slow down to help me understand them better, but hearing the same thing from people in Russia and other parts of eastern Europe. The Chinese telling me to come on msn so they can understand what I’m trying to put across to them, getting asked if I’m sure I’m Indian, and a lot of other similar stuff. It’s thrilling to be able to communicate with so many different people from different cultures, people with different languages, people of different ideologies and beliefs.
But I often wonder if I will regret missing all these hours of sleep. Shouldn’t I be getting just as much sleep as everyone else? Does sleeping for around three hours a day make me different? If it’s different, is it good or bad? But then I tell myself, whatever it is, I need to do what I do. That to me is more important than the luxury called sleep. But there are also many times that I really don’t have much work, but I just sit around talking to friend or relaxing with music. Do I need to feel bad for not using that time to sleep? I have been told its dysthymic disorder, but there is really nothing to prove it really is.
I also have a lot of dreams in those few hours I sleep, I dream everyday, and I vividly remember what I dreamed about the previous night. The one last night for example was horrid, I was just sitting smoking a cigarette, and instead of the paper and tobacco burning and turning to ash, my body started to turn to ash, and I kept smoking until I was made of only ash and then my entire body just crumbled down into a heap of ash with the bud of the cigarette right at the top. Then I woke up. The night before that, I was in Africa with that girl, a beautiful dream to be honest. It made me look forward to that day and things did go well for me. I also wake up every morning and feel hangover, and while I’m sitting on my bed smoking my first cigarette of the day, still drowsy , things of the past just flash across , and make me thing about what are the wrong decision that I’ve taken, and the good ones as well. People that know me closely know that I call it the morning show, that’s about the only entertainment I get all day.
But sometimes I get really exhausted with the lack of sleep and think that I really I need to get some sleep. I’m really tiered with over two months of hectic work. I’m planning to take a week of to just sleep sometime soon, but will I be able to sleep without those dreams?
If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there and worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the loss of sleep.

I just read the comment you left on my blog. Thanks for visiting, it's always a pleasure to hear from you.
Regarding sleep and norms, everybody is different. Some need more sleep, others, less. Your body needs a certain amount of down time to rest and recuperate, though.
In my case, I need at least 8 hours every night, and 9 is better. I get sick if I don't get enough rest. My body forces me to rest when I don't sleep enough.
Right now, you're young, and your body can take more abuse than when you get older, but you will pay for it physically, sooner or later. What good will that fortune you're gonna make do you if your health is broken down, or if you die before you can enjoy it?
Right now it may seem to you as if you are going to live forever, but as you age, you will learn to appreciate your health, and to take care of your body, and not be so careless with it.
There's a balance between work, recreation and rest. You will learn to budget your time like you do your money. You need all those things in the right proportions to be a happy, well-adjusted person.
I hope I didn't ramble on too long, and maybe this will help you.

yo! do you get lucid dreams too? Like, you actually KNOW & REALIZE you're dreaming...and you make a choice not to get up, coz the dream is just too go0d.. hehe. it's real co0l.
Yea mate...take a week off and do something different. Im did that - a day but it was good - when stress got too much from work and i started dreaming about work :)
We are travelling too fast for the world..sometimes its good to slow down and do nothing instead.

whoa...hey yasser take it easy mate! I know bodies can handle stress but for long? I think sleep is very inportant if u want to think clear and lucid..

Dude if you enjoy what you're doing (while not sleeping i mean) then continue..though it will leave u exhausted..and if u can still work while ur exhausted then ur a super human being
I love my sleep :D i sleep like a log..sleep is like Precious..u should definitely take a break and enjoy yourself in bed (sleeping i mean) :P

hmm first i didnt like the foto in this entry :(...then take care ya...sleep is a must...actually sometimes u might think tat 3 hrs sleep is sufficient,even though u dont feel like sleeping u just shut ur eyes n try to sleep...the only think i know is-one of my friends papa didnt sleep for 10 dayz n 11th day he was abt to go mad :(...now he is pakka...dont think i m scaring u...just dont make 3hrs as a habit,bcoz ur body will surely go with anything which becomes a habit,the point is its not a healthy habit..try to sleep atleast 6hrs,tats more than enuf...

according to scientists the human body needs 8 hours of sleep and have to find ways to make up for those ohurs they missed.... hell what do scientists know anyways?? apart from all those things i dont know...;p

Have you overcome your insomnia problem....brisk walking and a good shower before sleep will definitely help......
Aahh...not me, even tho I cannot sleep at the drop of a hat, I do require my beauty sleep(pun intended/unintended/whatever) Like take yesterday for example,I hardly slept for 4 hours...whats that? Oh is that the reason I'm going around posting vague messages, well....guilty as charged :P

Sleep in important, that is true, but I completly understand your situation. I rarely get to bed before 3 AM and then I never fall asleep before I have laid in bed for at least 1/2 an hour. It's tough to find time to sleep in such a busy world, but it is needed to keep on doing what you do so well.
Also, I agree that your cig. dream might be a sign to quit smoking. And even if it's not a sign I will be your sign..QUIT SMOKING!!! It's bad for you, it hurts you, and I love you and don't want to see you hurt, so knock it off! Revelation study has begun, can't wait for your comments. Talk to you later babe! ~Trich

hmmm...u r pretty normal..temme abt it! insomnia..well i suffer from it too..used to ..still sometimes i cant sleep..and wakin up fresh..hmm thats like history for me!! yr dream was pretty scary..but the kinda dreams i get..ppl call em psycho dreams!! so i guess its not just u..so many ppl i know go thru this..and sometimes i dunno losin sleep at the cost of sth u wana do n stay up for that..even i dunno..me too lookin for the answer for that!! cuz i lose out ona lot of sleep just cuz of this!! if u hav found or find later lemme know also plzz...
